A striking and truly unique vintage Indian decorative ewer, measuring approximately 17.5 inches tall.
This is one of those pieces that immediately caught my attention because it is so unusual. I especially love the contrast between the deep blackened finish and the intricate gold-tone floral and scrolling decoration. The tall, slender body, narrow neck, flared spout, and beautifully curved handle give it an elegant sculptural quality from every angle.
What makes this piece particularly appealing to me is that it doesn’t look like something you see every day. The combination of its dramatic proportions, dark finish, and delicate ornamentation gives it a distinctive presence while still being very elegant. It would be beautiful displayed on its own and could add an interesting global accent to both traditional and eclectic interiors.
The piece is made of metal, likely brass, and the base is marked “Made in India.” There also appears to be an additional faint inscription on the underside that can only be seen under close magnification with a jeweler’s loupe. Because I cannot confidently read the inscription, I prefer not to make a maker or designer attribution.
The style is consistent with vintage Indian decorative metalwork, with finely detailed floral ornament creating a beautiful contrast against the darkened surface.
